JG 54 "Grünherz" (Green Heart), III Gruppe (III./JG 54) or 9 Staffel
Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4, used widely by JG 54 in Russia in 1942.
Green Heart (Grünherz): Represented the home region of JG 54's commander, Hannes Trautloft (Thuringia), and was adopted as the Geschwader emblem in 1941/42.
Red Shield with Black Cross: Known as the Jesau cross, this was the emblem for III./JG 54, representing its origin in East Prussia.
Red Devil Head: Specifically the emblem for 9./JG 54, often applied in an oversized version on the engine cowling during 1942.
